Imo State's Ideato Nation Cries Out for Help: Devastating Gully Erosion and Landslide Threatens Communities
"

A passionate appeal has been made to the federal and Imo State governments to intervene urgently to address the devastating gully erosion and landslide on the Orlu-Ideato road at Umuchima.
Ogbako Ideato, the apex social-cultural organization of Ideato North and Ideato South local government areas, issued a statement highlighting the dire situation. The erosion has left the areas landlocked, causing monumental property damage and immense suffering for residents and road users.
The abandonment of the World Bank erosion control project at Urualla has exacerbated the issue. Ogbako Ideato lamented that the two main road entrances into Ideato Nation have remained in disrepair for years, despite the area's strategic importance to Imo State and Nigeria.
The organization has begun high-level consultations to address the problems and urges leaders to put aside political differences to work towards a solution.
