ENUGU GOVERNMENT SUMMONS TRADITIONAL RULERS OVER NOTORIOUS MASQUERADE GROUP

The Enugu State Government has summoned traditional rulers and Presidents-General of affected communities to address the excesses of the notorious Oriokpa masquerade group.
The group's activities have reportedly resulted in two fatalities and widespread commotion in parts of Nsukka Local Government Area.
According to a statement by Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, the meeting will hold today at 1 pm prompt.
Affected communities include Nguru, Isiakpu, Echara, Nru, Edem-Ezema, Iheagu, Ihe, Owere, and Umuoyo.
Governor Dr. Peter Mbah has directed a full-scale investigation into the incidents, with a view to bringing those responsible to justice.
The government warned that any further excesses from the masquerade group or individuals would be met with commensurate sanctions.
