The 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze in Imo State has promoted six of its officers to the rank of Majors and two to Captains. The newly promoted officers include Major Joseph Baba Akubo, Major Steven Gabriel, Major Uzochukwu Adiela, Major Mohammed Saud, Major Owotoye Ganiu Abideen, and Major Muhydeen Adeniyi Adeniran. The two officers promoted to Captains are Captain Hilarion Chibuike Mmeriebekini and Captain Yunus Audu.
The promotion ceremony took place at the Brigade's headquarters' Officers Mess in Owerri, Imo State Capital. The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohammed Abass, congratulated the officers, noting that it was a well-deserved honor due to their hard work. "They are one of the best officers I have worked with. All the successes we have recorded are because of them, and other hardworking officers," he said.
The Brigade Commander gave Major Akubo a commendation letter, pointing out that he has made a mark in the army and merited the commendation. He urged the officers to continue to be dedicated to their duties, as the promotion is a call to greater responsibility.
The Garrison Commander, Commander J. Abuo, also congratulated the officers, saying that it is God that has found them worthy for their status to be elevated by the Nigerian Army in recognition of their hard work and commitment to duty. Abuo specially lauded Major Akubo, saying that he has always been fighting alongside him, among other teams of dedicated soldiers.
Major Akubo, in his response, thanked God for the promotion and expressed gratitude to his family, friends, and well-wishers. He assured the Imo people and the Nigerian Army of their continuous commitment towards the service, adding that they will not relent in upholding the vision of the Chief of Army Staff and the Brigade Commander of ensuring that Imo State remains peaceful.
The Member representing Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta, Oru West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dibiagwu Eugene Okechukwu, congratulated the officers, saying it is a welcome development as they have worked assiduously towards keeping the peace in the state. He commended the brigade for their efforts and urged them to keep up the "good work."
The promotion of these officers is a testament to their hard work and dedication to duty. The Nigerian Army's recognition of their efforts is a morale boost to the officers and a demonstration of the army's commitment to rewarding merit. As the officers take on new responsibilities, they are expected to continue to work towards maintaining peace and security in Imo State.
