The Eastern Waste Management Company (EWAMAC) has taken decisive action against Kilimanjaro Fast Food Mall located at Amakohia/Orlu Road, Owerri, for allegedly discharging sewage waste into public road drainage channels. The enforcement action was carried out in conjunction with the Imo State Ministry of Environment.

The General Manager of EWAMAC, Hon. Ugochukwu Aghazie, confirmed that the agency's compliance team had been monitoring the situation and found the fast food mall to be in clear violation of environmental safety regulations. This violation posed serious health risks to residents and road users within the area.

The facility was sealed off over the weekend, and plans are underway to prosecute the management of the facility for contravening laid-down environmental laws. Hon. Aghazie emphasized that this action demonstrates the government's seriousness in ensuring that public health and environmental standards are upheld across the state.

This enforcement serves as a warning to all business operators and residents that EWAMAC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, is fully committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and environmental safety. No offender will be spared.

The General Manager urged residents to cooperate with the agency by adopting proper waste management practices and reporting cases of indiscriminate dumping or discharge to the authorities. This action reiterates EWAMAC and the Ministry of Environment's determination to enforce compliance and safeguard the environment as part of Governor Hope Uzodimma's broader vision of a cleaner and healthier Imo State.

The public is advised to take note of this development and comply with environmental regulations to avoid similar consequences. EWAMAC and the Ministry of Environment will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Imo State remains clean and environmentally safe for all residents.
