Ezeji Title: Summers Nwokie Cherishes Tradition, Community Edification

A philanthropist and business tycoon, Dr. V.C Summers Nwokie, last week, received Ezeji title from Ndi-Ezeji Ezinihitte Mbaise, Mbaise at large as well as his son who was inducted into Ikwaji, in line with the culture of the land.
The CEO of Ikukuoma Foundation was conferred with the Ezeji title by Ndi- Ezeji Mbaise Ezinihitte precise, due to his humanitarian services and positive impact to the people of Mbaise and Imo State in extension.
The event took place at Ezagbogu, Ezinihitte Mbaise, with Ndi-Ezeji and community leaders and residents gathered to celebrate with Chief Summers Nwokie (Ikukwoma Mbaise).
The ceremony took place at the residence of the philanthropist - marking a significant moment for the cultural landscape of Mbaise.
Presiding over the ceremony, the traditional ruler of Amagbor Ihitte, HRH, Eze Mike Ndudiri Orji Dimgba 1 of Ihitte Ezinihitte Mbaise, stressed the importance of youths engagement in preserving the cultural heritage of their community.
He blessed as well as commended the elevation of High Chief Nwokie, praising him for his unwavering support, commitment to culture and tradition, advocating for sustainable agricultural practices to ensure food security.
Speaking to journalists, Dr. Summers Nwokie emphasised the intrinsic link between culture and identity.
"Culture is our pride; it helps us to understand who we are and defines our sense of belonging," he stated.
Nwokie highlighted the alarming ignorance of youths in upholding their cultures and traditions, pointing out that the thing is increasingly gravitating towards prioritizing foreign cultures, calling for a renewed focus on local traditions and values.
"I am committed to restoring and protecting our culture and I will make sure that whatever thing that can make a head way for my people's happiness I will not hesitate to actualize it,
"And whatever thing that will bring development peace and prosperity, by God's grace will be done", he asserted while likening the journey of revitalization to a 1,000-kilometer trek that begins with a single step.
He added, "this title is another step forward in that journey. We must redirect our youths' creativity and talents towards our cultural heritage for a more promising future."
Nwokie hence encouraged the young people to look inwards for inspiration, stressing the importance of upholding cultural values as the path toward reclaiming their lost glory.
The event featured a special cultural performance, celebrating High Chief Nwokie’s new title and Ikwaji, reaffirming the community's commitment to fostering a vibrant cultural heritage or identity.
