Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has reassured aspiring candidates who failed to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets for the upcoming local government election that they will receive refunds starting Monday.
After attending Sunday Mass at the Government House Chapel in Owerri, Governor Uzodimma addressed the state, clarifying that refunds will cover only funds spent on purchasing forms from the party, excluding expenses made without receipts.
"All unsuccessful aspirants for councillorship or chairmanship will have their money refunded tomorrow," he stated. "However, expenses without receipts, such as consultation fees, will not be reimbursed."
Governor Uzodimma urged aspirants to remain committed to the party's greater good, prioritizing collective interests over individual expectations. He also appealed to disappointed leaders to make sacrifices for the party's and state's benefit.
Regarding concerns about the local government election, Governor Uzodimma reaffirmed that the polls will proceed as scheduled by the Imo State Electoral Commission (ISIEC) on September 21, 2024.
"This election will hold as planned," he assured. "I urge all stakeholders to maintain peace and cooperate with the electoral commission."
With this promise, Governor Uzodimma aims to boost morale and unity within the APC, ensuring a smooth electoral process.
