PDP Rejects Edo Election Peace Accord, Citing 'Death Trap' and Police Brutality"

In a shocking move, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refused to sign the Peace Accord for the upcoming Edo state election, labeling it a "death trap." The party's leadership expressed outrage and frustration over the developments in Edo state, citing victimization, brutality, intimidation, and arrests of their members by security forces.
According to Acting National Chairman Amb. Umar Damagum, the PDP cannot sign a Peace Accord that compromises their safety and security. "We cannot be victimized, brutalized, intimidated, and arrested by the security and yet sign a Peace Accord," he said.
The PDP has given conditions for signing the accord, including the redeployment of the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Nemo Edwin-Iwo, and the release of detained PDP members. The party also demands the redeployment of the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha.
National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba emphasized the party's stance, saying, "We cannot sign a Peace Accord that takes us to death." This move comes after Governor Godwin Obaseki threatened not to sign the accord, citing a lack of trust in the police and INEC.
The PDP has vowed to participate in the election and defend their votes, stating, "We will come out in mass, and we will defend our votes with our blood." The party's rejection of the Peace Accord raises concerns about the credibility and fairness of the upcoming election.
