The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) is set to conduct a crucial validation exercise for chairmanship and councillorship candidates participating in the upcoming Local Government Elections. The exercise, scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, is a significant step towards ensuring the credibility and success of the polls.


According to ISIEC Chairman, Chief Charles Ejiogu, the validation will take place at the Commission's headquarters on Orlu Road, Owerri, at 10:00 am. Candidates from the 17 participating political parties are expected to attend.


In a statement, Chief Ejiogu expressed optimism about the exercise's success, thanking candidates in advance for their cooperation. The validation is part of the electoral process leading up to the September 21 elections.


ISIEC had earlier announced Saturday, September 21, as the date for the Imo State LGA elections. With the validation exercise, the Commission is gearing up for a free, fair, and credible electoral process.
